Contents of the Create UID Print File Screen

Identification

Use the fields in this block to create a new parameter ID or to retrieve a previously saved parameter ID. A parameter ID represents a set of screen selection parameters. After you have saved a parameter ID and its related parameters, you can retrieve them using Query.

You can use the retrieved parameters to produce reports and run processes more efficiently and with greater consistency. The saved parameters are also useful and necessary when you want to run the process as part of a batch job. Many users save a unique set of parameters for each different way they run a report or process. When you select a previously saved parameter ID or parameter description, the associated saved screen selection parameters automatically display as selection defaults. The page setup and print options, if there are any, are also included in the saved parameter ID. You can change any of the associated selection defaults as necessary.

Parameter ID	Enter, or click to select, a parameter ID of up to 15 alphanumeric characters. Choose characters for your parameter ID that help identify the type of selections you made on the screen, such as PERIOD or QUARTERLY. When you save your record, all the selections made on the screen are stored with the parameter ID. Later, you can retrieve the parameter using Query. You can use the parameter to run the process more efficiently because you can select the parameter ID with its previously defined screen selections. After the default selections display on the screen, you can override the defaults.

Parameter ID

Enter, or click to select, a parameter ID of up to 15 alphanumeric characters. Choose characters for your parameter ID that help identify the type of selections you made on the screen, such as PERIOD or QUARTERLY.

When you save your record, all the selections made on the screen are stored with the parameter ID. Later, you can retrieve the parameter using Query.

You can use the parameter to run the process more efficiently because you can select the parameter ID with its previously defined screen selections. After the default selections display on the screen, you can override the defaults.

Selection Ranges

Use the fields in this group box to select UID records by UID number, part/revision, or serial number.

UID

Field	Description
Option	Select the range option to choose UID records from the drop-down list. Valid options are: All: Select this option to include all available records. The Start and End fields are disabled for this option. This is the default for selecting UIDs if you clear the Non-Contiguous Ranges check box. One: Select this option to include only one record. You must enter that value in the Start field. The End field is disabled for this option. This is the default for selecting UIDs if you select the Non-Contiguous Ranges check box. Range: Select this option to include a contiguous range of records. You must enter the beginning value for the range in the Start field and the ending value of the range in the End field. From Beginning: Select this option to include all the records from the beginning of the available records to a specific record in the range. You must enter the last value for the range in the End field. The Start field is disabled for this option. To End: Select this option to include all the records from a specific record to the end of all the available records. You must enter the value from which the range should begin in the Start field. The End field is disabled for this option.
Start	Enter, or click to select, the UID for the beginning of the range.
End	Enter, or click to select, the UID for the end of the range.
Non-Contiguous Ranges	Select this check box to list multiple non-contiguous ranges on the UID Non-Contiguous Ranges subtask.

Part/Rev

Use the following fields to select UID records by part/revision number.

Field	Description
Option	Select the range option to choose parts and/or their revision numbers from the drop-down list. The following options are available: All: Select this option to include all available records. The Start and End fields are disabled for this option. This is the default for selecting part/revision number. One: Select this option to include only one record. You must enter that value in the Start field. The End field is disabled for this option. Range: Select this option to include a contiguous range of records. You must enter the beginning value for the range in the Start field and the ending value of the range in the End field. From Beginning: Select this option to include all the records from the beginning of the available records to a specific record in the range. You must enter the last value for the range in the End field. The Start field is disabled for this option. To End: Select this option to include all the records from a specific record to the end of all the available records. You must enter the value from which the range should begin in the Start field. The End field is disabled for this option.
Start	Enter, or click to select, the part and revision for the beginning of the range.
End	Enter, or click to select, the part and revision for the beginning of the range.

Serial Number

Use the following fields to select UID records by serial number.

The End field is disabled for this option.
Start	Enter, or click to select, the serial number for the beginning of the range.
End	Enter, or click to select, the serial number for the beginning of the range.

Generate

Use this group box to specify a name for the print file, and to indicate where it should be saved.

Field	Description
File Location	Enter, or click to select, the location where you want Costpoint to save the print file.
File Name	Enter the name for the print file.
Overwrite File	Select this check box to overwrite a print file that uses the same filename and exists in the file location you indicated.
